Honoring the Fallen
General Erik K. Shinseki A.M. '76 will deliver the memorial address on October 23
at dedication ceremonies for Duke's expanded war memorial on the quad beside Duke Chapel at 10:00 a.m. The names
of alumni who died since World War II serving their country will be designated by conflict and added to existing
World War II memorial plaques. Video of the ceremony will be available on

Provost's Lecture Series
The topic for this year is "The Future of the Past, the Future of the Present," and features outside faculty
on discussing historical records in the digital age. On October 26 at 5:00 p.m. in Duke's Love
Auditorium, hear Diana Taylor, professor at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, on "The Digital as
Anti-Archive?" Lectures are free and open to the public, or you can view them online after the fact via
