Welcome to the Duke LGBT Alumni Network (DukeLAN)

DukeLAN has moved into a second phase of its existence. Duke's Alumni Association (DAA) has teamed with DukeLAN to help ensure all LGBTQ alumni are fully included in Duke's family. The DAA is re-committing itself to serve all alumni who earned their degree from Duke. The University has been growing to be more sensitive to the needs of all sexual minority students and alumni. events.

The majority of schools at Duke now have social groups dedicated to catering to the wide array of needs of LGBTQ students. On Main West, the Center of LGBT Life has thrived in the past 8 years with two full-time support staff joining in 2007, work-study opportunities for students and is currently led by Dr. Janie Long, PhD.

DukeLAN's mission is to connect LGBTQI alumni back to our alma mater and to also serve as a medium for connecting to alumni from similar institutions around the nation. For instance, some alumni groups from institutions such as Princeton, Harvard and Stanford have grown to assist their respective alumni with finding alternatives for meeting and mingling other like-minded individuals through art escapes, wine & cheeses and group travel.
